Notes from the 3/18 Meeting

Hillsboro’s Police Chief, Lee Dobrowolski, was introduced to the club. Lee is a great speaker and proved a tolerant guest. We got an overview of his professional path; then questioned his team affiliations. Optimist Meek made sure. Oregon teams got proper billing and delivered the expected Linfield College plug.

The Spartan Varsity Softball Team visited the club and their coach, Stacey Huchinson, made a presentation.Theprogram is a real come-back story and the coach is a real find for the Spartans. We’re thinking about ways to help enable their future (see below). They need equipment, work done on their field, Nike uniforms, and more coaching staff.

Other Notes:
Our gavel is missing; Meek's bus is also missing. We reported this theft to the Chief Dobrowolski along with the address of the usual suspects. The Beaverton club can expect to be arrested any day now.
Steve McKenzie will organize our fund-raising response to Tuesday Market. This activity may include the possibility of extra pay for set-up or clean-up support. Optimist Horton promised to pay huge wages to anyone who would pick up trash for her… if we elect to do that again.

The Tuesday Market organization is allowing us to set up an Optimist booth - we need to decide what to do with it.
