More Ways to Give This Season

As usual, the Christmas season is one that makes people want to give back to their community. Listed are a few ways that Hillsboro Optimist Club members can continue to help their community.

  • Donate time to the Salvation Army, our guest speaker Denise Stephens spoke of how important just one day of bell-ringing is for the funding of the great work they do.
  • Donate money or items to Foster Teens in the community. Sue Horton is spearheading this initiative, and can be contacted for details.
  • Children's Cancer Fund Collection - The Hillsboro Optimist Club is still raising funds for this great cause. Kathy Jungels is starting the season off right with a $20 donation this week as penance for not bring the collection jar this week. It will be out next week for any holiday donations members may want to make.
  • Support the club! Supporting the club itself is also vital to the continued existence of the club. Purchase a Hillsboro Optimist Club polo shirt from President Monte Akers for $10, or a district shirt from Optimist International Foundation Representative Bill French for $30, and watch the proceeds in action throughout the year. E-mail Monte or E-mail Bill for more information or to order your shirts.
